The Patriots won! Woo!
The CHARGERS won!? What the HELL?!
I mean....YAY! But....what the HELL!?
All I know is, Paul owes me some damn pizza! Serves him right, betting on the Colts.
It's all good guys.
A little Disneyland therapy (courtesy of one of my clients signing us into both parks for free. He's currently pulling triple duty as far as shows are concerned. He's in both Aladdin shows as well as the new Pirates show) helped out immensely with the bad mood. The specific purpose of the trip being to get AWAY from various stressors in my life, I went with my roommate and her friend visiting from Oregon. Unfortunately I hadn't quite realized just how unpleasant my roommate can be when spending prolonged periods of time with her.
First there was the fact that not only did she make us late to meeting the client, she didn't understand why I was upset she didn't feel the need to apologize for it. Throughout the day, she was holding us up literally every ten minutes by either wanting to buy something to eat/drink (a frozen chocolate banana, a corn dog, a churro, popcorn and 3 bags of cotton candy was the final tally for the day for her) or needing to go to the bathroom, which, ok, fine, it's an amusement park experience, no worries. I never commented beyond the required teasing after the need for the third bag of cotton candy.
At the end of the night when we were close to leaving and she was letting us know just how much she was suffering the effects from both too much sugar consumed as well as her insistence on going on the required-soaking-involved Bear Rapids ride at 7pm (she's feeling sick? she's cold? she's wet? I'm AMAZED, I tell you) and I ducked in to satisfy my craving for a cream cheese pretzel, the complaining did not stop from her. Why are we here, I don't want to be here, I want to get going, my legs hurt. Seriously? You're going in? God, I'm cold. Argh. Her friend was pretty much on my side, having apparently dealt with this insanely annoying behavior solidly for the last two weeks.
Still, despite all that, it's freakin Disneyland. I had a fantastic time. FastPasses are the best invention in the history of the world. It had POURED rain the night before and was still a little drizzly in the morning which sadly meant the new Pirates show was canceled as well as closing off Tom Sawyer's Island (my FAVORITE part of the park when I was a kid, running all over the place and climbing all over everything). I'd never seen the Haunted Mansion all done up for Halloween, and they go ALL OUT with the Nightmare Before Christmas theme. Both the roommate and roommate's friend loved it, and they've never even seen the movie!
In the end, hooray for Disney therapy.
The producers session on Friday (producers session is usually what a callback is called for TV auditions because you generally read with the casting director first for the initial audition, then for the callback they will bring you in to read for the producer's of the show who are the ones making the final decision about who gets cast) went ....fairly well. First of all, it was my first producer's session for an episodic EVER, so I was excited about that. As far as the thing itself, well, there was the high point of the producer asking me about making the choice between my old career as a neurobiologist and the new career as an actress, then, after hearing my read, telling me I had made a good choice (yay!), and the low point of him mocking my stumbling over the word 'equilibrate' and comparing me to an actress from Dawson's Creek who was 'dumb as a post' but had majored in nuclear physics (Ouch).
Sigh.
Come to think of it, perhaps the compliment about the good choice in career wasn't so much that I was a good actress, just that I was better at it than his perceived view of my intelligence in my former career.
Great.
Anyway, no idea if I got the part. Greek seems to be a show that will go in more for the obvious look of a part rather than the quality of the acting, and unfortunately when it comes to portraying a lesbian sorority sister, I'm willing to bet they were going to take the girl ahead of me with the ridiculously short and butch haircut. But who knows? In any case, I was VERY excited to go to producers at all. Getting to producers for an episodic was just another hurdle that I've successfully conquered now and even if I don't get the part, I'll still be pretty satisfied.
Today's agenda? Watch the Patriots slaughter the Dallas Cowboys. Playboy (formerly known as Mark; I changed it in keeping with the usage of nicknames instead of fake names for the boys in my life. 'Playboy' is being used, literally, because he is a Boy who is in
Plays. (a 'play on words' if you will....god I'm easily amused at my
own ridiculousness). Also, because anything more specific would be a
dead giveaway to Middledesk and Sidedesk about who he is. /end sidebar) will be there as well as a friend of mine from Boston. Should be fun!
